Our history

Kyklos Carbon is the result of an idea by the two current founders, born from research activities, projects, and market insights.

June 2021

Where it all began

The idea was born from a business meeting between Rosario Savarese (Unitiva) and Francesco Castagna (Agilae). Aware of the critical role of climate change, they began thinking about innovative and technologically advanced solutions they could offer to drive change in carbon offsetting. This sparked various processes of analysis, research, and deep exploration to build a concrete idea: Kyklos Carbon.

September 2021

Initial research phase

In September 2021, our journey began with a deep dive into the potential of blockchain technology for carbon credits generated from regenerative agriculture. Our research focused on integrating blockchain solutions, drawing inspiration from the NORI platform and analyzing regulatory frameworks, starting with the Kyoto Protocol.

Marzo 2022

In March 2022, we expanded our research efforts. We focused on the VERRA and Gold Standard certification processes, exploring how to generate carbon credits and structure them for our platform.

At the same time, we continued to work on other aspects of marketplace development, studying how to structure and optimize it to meet our needs.

This phase marked the beginning of a broader exploration into all carbon offsetting practices, including removal methods.

We also concentrated on the technological component, aiming to ensure transparency and security in carbon credit transactions through the use of blockchain technology.

April 2023

Partnership con Digita Academy

In April 2023, we gave a significant boost to our research through a partnership with Digita Academy. During this collaboration, we validated our hypotheses to better target potential customers—starting with project developers—ensuring that our approach to carbon removal projects was on the right track.

We also deepened our understanding of pricing strategies and studied existing marketplace platforms, enhancing our business model with critical insights.

Standardizzazione e modellazione dei dati

In June 2023, our focus shifted to international standards such as ISO 14064 and 14067. Our work on data modeling for carbon footprint calculation helped us align with global best practices and ensured that our methodologies were both robust and credible.

November 2023

Lancio ufficiale della startup

Our hard work and rigorous research activity culminated in the founding of Kyklos Carbon in November 2023. We proudly presented our startup at the Ecomondo event, marking the official beginning of our journey toward sustainable innovation.

Febbraio 2024

Progressi tecnologici e legislativi

In February 2024, we deepened our understanding of carbon removal technologies, particularly engineered solutions. At the same time, we expanded our scope of interest, examining the evolution of the regulatory and legislative landscape regarding carbon removal practice certification, in parallel with the Carbon Removals Expert Group meetings.

April 2024

In April 2024, we renewed our partnership with Digita Academy.

During this phase, we consolidated our choices, aligning our technologies with those outlined by CRCT (Carbon Removal Certification Technology) and clustering these technologies to optimize our marketplace development strategy. All through a careful and comprehensive data analysis process.
